Kitchen Faucet Update

As you may know, I’ve been slowly renovating my kitchen when I have time. So far I’ve repainted my cabinets, refinished my countertops, and updated the lighting. I like the sink in my kitchen. It’s a great size and I actually like the double basin. But, the faucet was too low. Cleaning large pots and pans was always a challenge. So, I decided to go ahead and upgrade the faucet! It sounds like a daunting task, but it was actually pretty easy.

gypsy blood

My Review:

I so wanted to love this book because I really love the author. But, Gypsy Blood just didn’t land with me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad book by any means. The writing is great, but I had a really hard time getting into the story and connecting with the characters. There are so many elements that should have created a really captivating story… gypsies, set in Paris, deep underground catacombs and weird, creepy supernatural themes. It all should have resonated with me. But, I couldn’t click with this one. Continue reading

Refinish Your Countertops on a Budget!

So, last year I started updating my kitchen on a budget. I painted my cabinets and updated the light fixture over my sink. I had a little extra time last weekend and lucky for me I already had supplies on hand to refinish my counters! I did a lot of shopping around before I decided on a product. I went back and forth on buying a sponge-on paint kit that resembles granite or a roll-on stone material. I was worried that I would totally botch the sponge paint so I opted for Spreadstone Mineral Select by DAICH. I chose the Onyx Fog color for a little contrast. But, they have a bunch of different color options to suit any decor!

My Review:

Charlotte’s Pact is a refreshing take on a paranormal love story. This is not my go-to genre of choice, but I always enjoy expanding my horizons. I really liked that this book is fairly short (175 pages). It’s an easy read and could definitely be finished in an evening.

The story is told in third person narration throughout. The plot flows at a nice pace throughout the entire book. Some of the early chapters jump between past and present a little bit, but it’s very easy to follow and executed nicely. As the synopsis suggests, this starts out as a love story but quickly turns into something much darker. There are some nice twists and turns throughout the book and an ending that leaves a great opening for the series to continue. Continue reading

2017 Garden!

Picture1

Hey guys!! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted something about my garden! Last years garden was definitely a learning experience! I made a ton of mistakes and ended up with a pretty minimal harvest. But, that’s okay, because I learned so, so much from it! Also, my garden last year was started on a whim when I received a free seed kit to review. I had no plan and no knowledge of how to care for these plants (especially the heirloom varieties)! resurrection america

My Review:

WOW!! I just finished my Advance Reader Copy of Resurrection America and I am blown away. I’ve read several of Jeff Gunhus’ books and I’m already a fan of his writing style, so I might have been a little biased going into this one. Biased or not, there is no denying that the writing is superb and the story is like no other. Resurrection America is a near-future dystopian thriller with a few believable sci-fi elements. My Review:

Yowza!! Tarryn did it again! She managed to suck me in, chew me up and spit me out. I absolutely LOVED Bad Mommy from the very first page. I went into this book knowing only that it was written by Tarryn Fisher. I didn’t read the synopsis and I barely even looked at the cover. THAT is how much I freaking love Tarryn Fisher. I just dove right in knowing that it was going to be amazing.

The story is written in three different parts. Each part is told from the perspective of one of the three main characters in first person narration. Each part seamlessly follows a continuous timeline instead of telling the same events three different ways. Continue reading
